SOFIA TO LES 2 ALPES – HOW TO GET THERE
You can either fly to a nearby airport and continue by transfer, or drive your own car. Marmoto does not organise group bus transport. Here is a short overview of the options.

Flying from Sofia
Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) is the practical choice. Wizz Air is the only airline flying Sofia–Lyon non-stop, three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, in about 2 h 35 min – 2 h 45 min.
Grenoble-Isère (GNB) is the closest airport to the resort (109 km) and has the best transfer service, but there are no flights from Sofia – only with a connection. Geneva is no longer served non-stop from Sofia either, and is the furthest away.
Ski and snowboard equipment is not part of the standard baggage allowance – add it to your booking in advance and check the airline’s price.

Ben’s Bus runs from 5 December 2026 to 17 April 2027 and connects with every scheduled flight at Grenoble, any day of the week. The Transaltitude coach is very busy in winter, so book online in advance. Both the Transaltitude ticket and a free luggage pack are booked at transaltitude.fr; the resort stops are Point Info, Palais des Sports, Maison du Tourisme and Agence Cars Région VFD.
By car from Sofia
Roughly 1,700 km and about 18 hours of driving, normally split over two days with an overnight stop in northern Italy or Slovenia.
Route: Sofia → Niš → Belgrade (Serbia) → Zagreb (Croatia) → Ljubljana (Slovenia) → Trieste → Milan → Turin (Italy) → Oulx → Col de Montgenèvre → Briançon (France) → Col du Lautaret → Le Freney-d’Oisans → Les 2 Alpes.
This crosses the Alps over the Montgenèvre pass instead of the Fréjus tunnel. It avoids the tunnel toll and does not go through Grenoble at all – you approach the resort from the Briançon side. Turin to the resort is roughly 180 km, about 2 h 30 min in winter conditions.

With four people sharing, that is roughly €85–95 per person each way – cheaper than a flight plus transfer, and you have your own car in the resort. Add one or two nights of accommodation on the road, and note that winter fuel prices may differ from the figures above.
What you need on the way:
- E-vignettes for Bulgaria and Slovenia.
- Pay-per-section tolls in Serbia, Croatia and Italy. No tunnel toll on this route.
- A Green Card and valid ID or passport – Serbia is outside the EU, so you cross a non-EU border twice.
Good to know
- Bulgaria is in the EU and Schengen, so no passport checks when flying to France. Carry a valid ID card or passport.
- Bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). It does not cover mountain rescue – separate ski insurance is strongly recommended.
- Book transfers early: shuttles and the Grenoble coach fill up on peak winter Saturdays.
- Free shuttle buses run around the resort throughout the season, roughly every 15–20 minutes on the main lines.
